Refused to refund my broken window!
I recently purchased a made-to-measure window from AWM Windows and unfortunately, a window pane arrived broken. Despite my clear statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the company is refusing to provide a refund or arrange for the return of the faulty product.
I was told by a manager, Mike, that the company's terms and conditions state that they do not refund made-to-measure windows that are faulty on delivery, but this is illegal. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods that are of unsatisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described have to be refunded or replaced. When I spoke to the manager on the phone he hung up on me after I challenged his unlawful opinion on made to measure product returns. The company cannot limit or exclude these rights.
I chose to have the window refunded as I am now not able to arrange for the replacement window to be fitted until next year when I am back in the country.
It has been very disappointing to deal with AWM Windows, and I strongly advise potential customers to be aware of their rights and the company’s obligations. My experience has been frustrating and unresolved, and I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.
