Fantastic service provided, extremely happy with my new composite front door. Had lots of advice from them about the type of door that would suit the look of my home.
Would recommend this company to anyone that is looking for new windows/doors!
CAVEAT EMPTOR- BUYER BEWARE!!
While I am enjoying the conservatory erected by Shire Conservatories the whole building process was a bit of a nightmare. Inadequate attention was made to how the conservatory was to be accomodated to the layout of the existing house, in particular existing pipework draining my kitchen. and bathroom. Little thought had been given to this before the building works commenced and continued at a frenetic pace and I had to confront the building workers about how the existing kitchen drainage system was to be retained along with adequate access to maintain it in the event of blockage within the conservatory extension., which they had given little thought to. Also I was unable to contact the owner about these concerns as he was away on holiday at the time.
It is also apparent that some of the workers employed by Shire were somewhat sub standard and frankly incompetent in the following ways:-
1.The main roofing worker took a ridiculous short cut in dealing with the existing drainage from my bathroom by altering it so that the dirty water from the bath and sink drained onto the conservatory roof!! which would have been a health hazard!! The Building Regulations company naturally refused to pass the building works until the bathroom drainage had been diverted into the existing foul pipe.
2. Subsequent to the erection of the conservatory the 2 main electrical sockets failed because the electrician employed evidently failed to provide an adequate electrical extension of the existing house circuit. So i had to call out Shire to arrange for an alternative means of powering the two sockets which meant that a cable had to be run on the outside wall of the conservatory protected by a plastic tubing which looks awful.
Would i recommend Shire? Not in a million years!
The first thing we all do when we are about to make a major purchase, is to look at the price. The second thing is to consider what your getting for that price and finally, what sort of job will this company do for my money?
Well I can honestly say that Shire Conservatories more than satisfied all three criteria.
The price was very competitive. The quality of the structure was very good, but the real bonus was the attention to detail the staff gave to making the construction a success.
They have my vote any day.
Seven and a half years ago we had a large Ultra Frame Conservatory built by Sire Conservatories. Initially we were pleased with their work and friendliness. However, after a few months leaks started to develop in various parts of the roof. We contacted Shire and someone visited each time and patched the leaks up. This did not solve the problem as after a few months leaks started again and it was becoming frustrating.
We went regularly away on holiday and returned to find the conservatory floor swimming in water. A number of items of furniture were also soiled by the dripping water.
Eventually it was decided that a Rep. from Ultraframe visit our home to try and solve the problem and it was decided that the leaks were caused by poor fitting glass so new panes of glass were eventually fitted in these specific areas.
To our horror this did not solve the problem as the roof started to leak again in this same area plus another area. Again Shire came out but could not solve the problem. By this time we were loosing patience because the building was not cheap to build, so another meeting was arranged between us , Shire and another Rep. from Ultraframe who commented that we had been very patient and he would not have accepted the situation we were in.
We were left with the impression that no one seemed to know how to solve the problem. It was decided that the roof muntan bars would be replaced by Ultraframe with aluminium bars which Shire would fit.
Weeks went by and although the roof was still leaking when it rained we did not hear anything from Shire. We only got a response when we contacted them and were told that they were trying in the end to arrange a date to come and fix the problem.
After a further wait of about 9 months we decided that we had enough and contacted other dealers. During these visits we were told that the current roof was not fit for purpose. We decided to have the roof replaced at a high cost but we have no worries now as the matter has been resolved.
I have contacted Shire and informed them what we had done and insultingly they said they were annoyed and asked why they were not given the opportunity.
As this has been going for over 7 years I asked as a gesture of goodwill if they were willing to give us something towards our extra costs, inconvenience , worry and damage to furniture. They refused.
This review is to warn others what they are likely to face if they purchase from this Company.
