December 2012
I feel that as a member of the general public, I should make them aware of a company called Frames Direct. I bought a property 2 years ago, I made the mistake of not reading their contract, unbeknown to me, the couple that I purchased my house from, should have changed the guarantee over to my name. The windows and doors installed by Frames Direct , at my property, where only just 4 years old, and are guaranteed for 10 years. When I rang Frames Direct, I spoke to Tony Mclaughlin, I informed him that one of my windows wouldn’t open properly, another I cannot close properly, one of my doors has dropped, and none of the windows are sealed properly either. I was then told by Tony Mclaughlin, that if I put all of this in an email, and sent it to him, he would send out an inspector, to look at the faults, and then sort out the transfer of the guarantee . After receiving no answer to my email, I resent the email, as a reminder again, to which they answered, that they would not transfer the contract. On sending an email asking the reasons, Tony told me that the guarantee should have been transferred, within 3 months of me buying the property, Tony neglected to read his own contract, that states that the seller and not the buyer , needs to transfer the guarantee. I would warn people to read their contracts carefully, and not to buy goods or services, from a company that provides, faulty materials, and bad workmanship, and then use loop holes, so that they do not have to honour existing guarantees.
