I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Monument Roofing’s aftercare service has been extremely disappointing — especially considering the job started so well. Monument carried out a full roof replacement and gutter replacement for us. The initial work was priced fairly and the new roof itself looked great. However, from that point onward, everything fell apart. To access the job, their workmen smashed our plastic sheet roof, which I understood might happen — but the problems started when Monument began insisting that I had damaged it. Communication became a constant back-and-forth. Instead of acknowledging the obvious damage caused during their own scaffolding setup, Steve repeatedly tried to argue that the plastic roof had “previous damage.” Yes, there was a tiny gap before — but the new damage was the size of a scaffolding section. Completely different. Once the roof was finished (after multiple arguments), the workmen didn’t screw down the plastic roof, which later caused wind damage during a storm. I had to chase endlessly just to get this addressed. Then leaks started appearing near the staircase floorboards. After a lot of calling, we finally got someone out — and the workman confirmed that the gutter pipe had been removed during the original job, causing rainwater to splash directly against the wall. This easily explained the leak. The rubbish from the job was also left behind until I followed up with Steve. Fast forward to 2 December 2025, when the workman Adam — sent by Steve — accidentally smashed our back window while trying to fix the issues. This now leaves us with yet another repair we didn’t ask for. To make matters worse, Steve is now blaming my solar panel installers for the plastic roof damage and claiming this voids the entire 10-year warranty. The timeline doesn’t support this at all. Solar panels were installed right after the new roof was laid, and Steve had previously told me over the phone that installing solar panels was “fine.” Now he says that anyone stepping on the roof voids the warranty entirely. He even assumed the leak was on a section of roof with solar panels — but there are no panels there, which I had to prove by climbing up myself to take a photo. His claim about “broken tiles” causing the leak is also incorrect; the roof tiles are intact. Meanwhile, Adam — the workman he sent out — confirmed that the leak was due to the removed gutter, not broken tiles or solar panels. Throughout all this, I’ve been nothing but patient and accommodating — offering the workers drinks, even milkshakes, and lending them my ladder. I’ve tried to be helpful at every stage. But the constant blame-shifting, refusal to accept responsibility, and attempts to void the warranty without basis have made this one of the most stressful home projects I’ve dealt with. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Monument Roofing, especially if you value honest aftercare and accountability. The workmanship may look good initially, but if anything goes wrong afterward, be prepared for excuses, delays, and blame placed anywhere except where it belongs. Forget the 10-year warranty — they simply won’t look after you.

Contacted Steve after problems from some botched work from a cow boy roofer. He was both prompt and professional, and charged a fair price . The work was completed within 24 hours. Attitude was spot on would certainly call him again for any of my Roofing needs. Steve also provided pictures of work he had completed showing before and after results.
